Concrete block permeable paving provides
a structural pavement whilst allowing water to pass straight
into the pavement construction for temporary storage and
dispersal into the ground or for collection. It is one of
the main techniques for Sustainable Drainage Systems (SUDS)
which have grown in popularity in the UK and many other countries
over the last 20 years and are now a firm planning requirement.
Interpave continues to drive forward the development of
this important technology, working closely with other organisations,
such as CIRIA on ‘The SUDS Manual’, and sponsoring
seminars and training. It also produces a series of informative
documents looking at all aspects of permeable paving and
SUDS.
In particular Interpave produces and updates the definitive
design and construction guidance for permeable paving which
can be downloaded below as a single document. This substantially revised Edition 5 contains important new information.
Although permeable paving is now becoming
part of mainstream design and construction,
new developments continue to emerge with
this exciting technology. Interpave has set
up a Permeable Paving Forum and is keen to
share your experience or address specific
questions. Read more
